Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
The Jubitz Family Foundation is committed to peace, environmental protection, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. These commitments guide our funding, relationships, and public voice.
We believe a just and peaceful world depends on the protection and restoration of the natural environment, the inclusion of diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and forms of knowledge, and the rejection of violence, militarism, and domination as responses to conflict.
Our work is grounded in empathy, nonviolence, planetary loyalty, and moral imagination. These values shape how we understand harm, responsibility, and collective care.
Our DEIJ Framework
DEIJ is not an add-on to our work. It is a lens that shapes how we make decisions, how we define impact, and how we show up as a funder. We aspire to:
- Applying a DEIJ lens across all funding and organizational practices
- Acting with fairness and respect across race, gender, background, and identity
- Recognizing how systems of militarism, racism, colonialism, and environmental harm reinforce one another
- Centering communities most impacted by violence, exclusion, and ecological degradation
How We Put This Commitment Into Practice
Sustaining Support for Peace, Justice, and the Environment
- Continue funding organizations working toward peace, justice, and environmental protection in the United States
- Provide flexible and responsive funding, including frontloading grants when needed to support organizational stability
- Align all funding decisions with our commitments to peace, equity, and environmental care
Using Our Voice and Platform
- Publicly support organizations and individuals advancing peace, social justice, and environmental protection
- Join collective statements, letters, and calls to action aligned with our values
- Speak out when policies or practices undermine peace, equity, or environmental integrity
Strengthening Relationships with Partners
- Maintain regular communication with grantee partners to understand changing needs and risks
- Participate in collective learning, coordination, and strategic organizing
- Facilitate connections among partners to support collaboration and solidarity
Our Ongoing Responsibility
Commitment requires action. Justice does not advance on its own. Progress depends on sustained care, accountability, and collective effort. We remain dedicated to this work, guided by our values and accountable to the communities and movements we support.
